STS new windows are complete. Taking down the scaffolding over the sidewalk.

Hard to tell from this photo but its really interesting to see through the glass and see pipes and things running all throughout the building. It's a really beautiful building, especially with the new glass, and the details on the cornice are really nice.

Yes; beautiful.  Can hardly wait for the street facade to be unveiled.

Glad to see and have some reassurance that Sinclair Holdings/Aslam is methodically proceeding with this important Downtown project.

The Sinclair looks really nice in color.  Thanks for posting and letting us know about the change.  I'm also anxious to see the hotel being completed.

Today, I purchased a small table-top tripod so I would have something to stabilize my camera when taking night shots without having to lug around my large and heavy tripod.  Tonight, I went downtown and just played around with it.  I didn't take very many photos, but here is one that I took of the Sinclair Building and its new lighting.

I thought it turned out quite nice, even though the tripod was resting on top of a trash can.  If you look carefully, you can see that I caught a few stars in the sky, as well.

As in "Near Soutside"?  Or far south?  (I know, you don't have that information.)  I could see them moving to South Main Village (lots of stuff going in there), I could also see them moving further south, to Cityview area perhaps.

From a post I noticed on facebook, Ojos stated 'will be relocating near South.' I would think NEar SouthSide but, who knows.

living far south, it would be a fresh change of pace to have one open near me.

Define "far south".

Like what area or major intersection...

I don't think anyone would consider Berry "far south".  Maybe that's more like Memphis:  The Mid South.

Austin, at least you have a front row seat.  Unfortunately, the weather may be rather wet this weekend, so I'm not sure that I will be there to watch the installation.  I'm not particularly fond of standing out in the rain, even with rain gear on and an umbrella.

Either they didn't show up today or did so super early. Or will later. Streets been open most of the day. Guessing the weather last night delayed things?

Seems now they've filed w the FAA to use a crane up to 350 ft in height. The listed time is 2 months, which seems like a long time for a temporary crane but short for a tower crane.

The lot across the street is closed today with some railroad ties, presumably for the crane. Hopefully when that is done with the A/C can break ground.

I took a tour of the STS Tower/Original Sanger Brothers Building and the Sinclair Building today.  Here are a few of my photographs.  The first is a picture of the interior of the CVS Pharmacy taken from the entrance into the elevator lobby.  This is looking toward the new main entrance to the store, which was the original entrance to the Sanger Brothers Department Store.

cvs-interior.jpg

Here's a view of Picchi Pacchi's old space inside the Sinclair Building.  To the far right an opening has been punched through to the basement which will be a new stair down that is in the original location of the stair into the basement.  Immediately to my right is part of the last stairway into the basement.  It will be filled in with a new slab and the bar area to the hotel will be located there.

picchipacchi.jpg

This photo was taken inside the old tobacco shop.  A new stairwell is connecting from the existing upper floor stairway into an exit.

tobaccoshop.jpg

Above the 13th floor of the building, the facade starts to step back.  This is a view of the original concrete framing for the first setback.  One room will fit between the corridor and the outside wall and between the two transfer beams.  This is a photo of one of the transfer beams.  It will be covered by the walls between the two hotel rooms.

sinclairtransferbeam.jpg

When you get off of the elevator on the 15th floor, you are greeted with this lobby.  It has a large window facing north into the light well and a stairway leading up to the 16th floor penthouse.  All of the core elevators originally stopped at this level.  A private elevator was located behind the stairway that led up to the 16th floor.  The renovations of the hotel will take one of the core elevators up to the 16th floor to serve those rooms and to the roof.  The old elevator opening is being enlarged to extend the existing fire stair upward to the 16th floor and to the roof.  The new glass stairway also connects all of the levels as the 2nd exit.  This 15th floor lobby will be part of a 2 level penthouse suite that uses the existing stair in the photo.

sinclair15thfloorlobby.jpg

Here's a view of the 16th floor from near the existing stairway.  The wood framing in the ceiling is the new stair opening up to the roof.  Everything in the foreground between the stairway to the roof and me is the upper floor of the penthouse unit.

sinclair16thfloor.jpg

Here's a view from the 16th floor looking down into the light well where the fire escape was once located.  The new glass enclosed stair will go here and you can see the large window on the 15th floor lobby.

glass-stair.jpg

Want to see the existing roof where the new rooftop terrace will go?  We had to climb the existing roof access ladder.  Currently that is the only way to get up there.  In the early days of this website, I had a chance to tour the building and go on the roof.  That was in the early 2000's.  You will see a lot of debris up there.  The reason is that the cooling tower and the penthouse for the overrun for the private elevator were removed.  The new stairwells and the elevator extension will be the new projections up on the roof, along with the rooftop terrace structure.  Before my tour started, I was given a virtual reality tour of the 2 story penthouse suite and the rooftop terrace.

roofterrace.jpg

I'm sure you are probably wondering what the views look like from the top.  I took several but I decided to post two photos.  The first is of Sundance Square.

sundancefromsinclair.jpg

Finally, here is probably the best shot that I took from the roof.  Here's the new Frost Tower.

frostfromsinclair.jpg

I was hoping to post these over to social media, but I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow evening.

The trash chute was installed on the south side of the building in September, so it would probably be safe to assume that work had been going on inside since that time as a minimum.  However, I toured the building in January of 2017 and they were doing some work inside at that time, although their main focus then was on the STS Tower.

The 5th St. crane means no stage in that spot for Main St. Arts Festival this year. There will only be two stages. The convention center and Sundance.

I'm sure the Arts Festival will manage without that space.  Somehow with several new buildings constructed on Main Street, the festival has survived and flourished.  I wouldn't be surprised if next year, the AC Hotel is under construction on that site.

Next door at CVS most of the finish out looks complete, things like lights, ceiling, carpet and refrigerators are in place. Signs and shelves have started to be delivered but not yet put in place.

I haven't made a construction update on this project recently.  However, the new stairway that is being installed inside the light well, is almost up to the roof.  I noticed this while walking back to the T&P after the Courthouse Square Downtown Walking Tour.  However, I did not take a picture with my cell phone.  I had to wait to return to downtown this evening to take this photo.

I have quite a few pictures of that staircase going up from the perspective my office skylight which below and lined up with it (scary).  I finally got onto this forum a few weeks ago (which I have read daily for many years) particularly to post those images, but I have not made the time to register with an image host.  I will try to do that this week.  I don't want to clutter this thread up with the answer, but any suggestions for the best / easiest place to host images, with access control, quality, and privacy being more important than whether it is free.

Gordon Dickson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has an article on the upcoming opening of the CVS Pharmacy.  He mentions that the last time the core of downtown has a full service pharmacy was in 2001 when Eckerd Drugs shut down the location inside the old W.T. Grant Store at 6th and Houston.  What is ironic is that Eckerd's was the predecessor drug store chain to CVS.  CVS purchased Eckerd's in 2004.  Also from the article, it appears that Fossil Creek Land Partners is officially changing the name of the STS Tower back to its original name of Sanger Brothers Building.  Here's a link to the article, for those of you who have access to the Star-Telegram online:

I have quite a few pictures of that staircase going up from the perspective my office skylight which below and lined up with it (scary).  I finally got onto this forum a few weeks ago (which I have read daily for many years) particularly to post those images, but I have not made the time to register with an image host.  I will try to do that this week.  I don't want to clutter this thread up with the answer, but any suggestions for the best / easiest place to host images, with access control, quality, and privacy being more important than whether it is free.

Heard y'all took a brick through the skylight today.

That's unfortunate, but can happen when you have skylights and there is a construction project next door.
