Vaquero is now open!

Yes!  I stopped by there after lunch today and spoke with John and Chris.  Looks like a great shop.

They get their coffee from Buon Giorno and Craftwork, and their kolaches from from Pearl Snap.

At one time, Sundance Square allowed for an independent?? coffee shop popular with the bohemian crowd for which I found refreshing in this City. It was rumored that the coffee shop's crowd fell out of favor with SSq and was eventually replaced with a Starbucks.

The fate of Vaqueros Coffee will be hampered by the Worthington Hotel which has created something of a psychological barrier for sections of First, Main and Houston streets. Businesses have a difficult time in this dead spot.

I hope that VC can reignite the crowd feelings generated by the indy coffee shop in SSq.  If it can become a late night cafe, I think it stands a chance. I am certainly pulling for it.

(This is an Arts and Entertainment Entry) :)

I think Vaquero will make a killing of Courts, Cops and Students. Hopefully some of the biz crowd from SS sneaks up at times.

We should try to patronize this business as much as we can.  After all, Jonathan Heath is a forum member!  I wish them the best of luck.

All,

Thank you for all of the kind words and thoughts. Especially thanks to those who support us by coming by! I get it, though. Businesses are fickle and require many considerations and factors which contribute to the overall success or failure. I think in part, most everyone in here is right. Local business will be tough, and those who support the business I hope will speed word. We are cut off from the Worthington and it is like a fortress moat were trying to get people to cross. The working folk are going to carry us to a success from the courts, admin, and tax offices and accompanying first responders.

To me, they are all buckets of customers we need to fill each day/week/month in order to succeed. We have plans in place to attract those specific categories of people. Should we not succeed, I whole heartedly rest that failure on myself for not driving business to reach sustaining profitability and will shake the hand of the tenant who takes my place with best of luck as the last words out of my mouth.

As for immediately, we are focused on product, service, and social media/boots-on-the-ground momentum. Additional projects include a meeting with the director of operations of the Worthington to price out and possibly bid on the services currently rendered by Royal Cup Coffee for the Worthington. Go Local seems to be a trend that I cannot ignore, and if a large corporate staple of downtown hospitality wants to join in that trend, I need to make my brand available to target that opportunity.

Lastly, Im here to help support the revitalization of an area with rich history and fantastic architecture. Sweat equity is really the only way to accomplish this in the downtown area, and Diaches building altogether. Brian was the tip of the spear for a lot of this momentum, so there is much credit due to his years of work photographing Fort Worth.

Please come by and say hi, see the sights, and go local.

Cheers to everyone for their interest.

After stopping by with my tour group from the Downtown Fort Worth Walking Tour, we do intend to send business your way when we get that far north.  I will also stop by when I'm that part of Downtown.  However, I will admit that I am not around the Courthouse near as much as I used to be before Tarrant County put so much information online.  I have also plugged your shop with my co-workers.
