Fort Worth seems to lack a "hallmark" corridor; meaning to me a street which would cut across the city from east to west or north to south with one name.
Is Rosedale Street FW's prime candidate; with what say some usurping of Vickery; as Vickery is doomed by the eventuality of the Southwest Parkway?

Lancaster, Hemphill, Main to some degree, Camp Bowie? Beach comes pretty close to being truly "crosstown"?

Yes, Main Steet probably. I think that it would be neat if you could drive across town on one street; and for that street to be known throughout the region as Fort Worth's "Street". I think a beautified Rosedale Street could showcase the city. It has a diverse path through the city connecting the far east/Handley, Poly/TWC area, Near South, Medical Districts and empties into the Forest Park area. If allowed to continue along the path of Vickery, a new Rosedale would intersect with Hulen, Bryant Irvin, Southwest and beyond to Lost Creek/Aledo..The city could have some great intersections and points of references. Rosedale could become a sought after address.

I think Main is probably closest to the the best for a North-South corridor since it really goes from top to bottom except to the far south end which has always been a bottleneck. To qualify IMHO, the street needs to include north Fort Worth as well as the CBD and the south. Not perfect, but the closest since Henderson swings off to the NW as Jacksbor0 Highway and doesn't really go very far south.

Using the same criteria, I think that Lancaster is the only possible East-West corridor since it connects directly to Dallas/OakCliff, the eastern suburbs of Fort Worth, through the CBD on the south end and continues west to Camp Bowie which continues the corridor idea on out to the western city limits.

I recently drove in from Handley to downtown Fort worth on East Lancaster. The area east of the CBD has certainly gone down since I moved to FW in 1971 but it is not in the blighted class for the most part. It just needs planning and help.

As Lancaster moves west into the CBD the three monumental buildings on the south offer great promise for the future. These buildings also do a good job of screening the new overhead from view. Work is obviously going on on the reconstruction of Lancaster median in this area and I think that it will work nicely given oversight and care and intelligent investment.

The transition of Lancaster past Henderson is good and is one of the most pleasant busy streets in the city with the great view going west on the graceful Trinity bridge.
