Just thought I'd share some photos of the new construction projects that I took on May 20, 04 when flying around over downtown.
Radio Shack:
The Tower:
Pier One:
(well, I was almost directly overhead, so this isn't so good)
I've got some more aerial shots from that day of downtown posted on my webpage
enjoy,

Those are great photos. I had no idea how large the Radio Shack campus was.

Were these taken from a prop or helicopter?

Thanks. I was surprised by the amount of land the garage covers, it didn't seem that large the from street or the trails.
I'm anxious to see what they do with the large area between the buildings and the river...hopefully green space. When riding on the trails I've noticed it has quite a slope (which you can't really tell from the aerial).
David: they were taken from a Cessna 172 (prop)

Any chance next time you can get one view like John's Computer Aided Design angle/view???
http://360texas.com/...s/ftw/3dmap.htm
I have a Nikon 990 with a 24mm wide angle lens... as well as an 8mm/16mm fisheye lens. I have software that can put a couple images together.
And yes I would be interested in sharing costs for 1 hour tachometer time with you and others (total$ split with 3 places, 1 pilot is free ). And yes I am a private pilot (Single Engine Land).. although not current in a Cessna 172.
What I would do is to create an aerial view from that CAD angle.. and then put panorama hotspots on it in a web page. I also would be willing to let others use the finished aerial too (along with credit to.. etc)
Next flight if you are interested hollar. 817.346.4384... I am retired.. so schedule is very flexible.

I had the same idea, 360. Granted, this is putting the cart before the horse, but IF he was interested in taking some folks up for awhile, maybe some of us could chip in, or maybe for a some hardcore phototaking, we could "donate" some money to John to defray the costs, if the endeavor would be sufficiently beneficial to the site (and therefore the city, of course).
Or what the hey, maybe you do standard joy rides too?

Sorry to disappoint 360, but I am a mere student pilot. I’m not actively pursuing my license right now, I just go up occasionally to keep what I’ve learned so far fresh. (I’ll be in touch once I get my license, though.) I’ll try and get that shot you asked for if I’m around downtown again.
As far as others interested in going up for photographs, you’re looking at less than $150 for an hour. There are some great instructors at Howell's Aircraft (Grand Prairie Airport), where I fly out of, who would be happy to take you up to do some photography. (Plus you’d learn the basics and log your first hour of flight time.) I would recommend Brian Magee, he’s my instructor.
You’ll want to let them know ahead of time that you want to take photos. Taking photos through the windows isn’t optimal, of course (although the one’s I posted were taken through the plexiglass). When I went up last year to take pics of Anika Sorenson playing at the Colonial, they disconnected the brackets from the window so it would open all the way, then you can stick your head out and get better shots with no glare.
