I can't find the threads, but I did mention that at one short period of time we had our four tallest buildings all under construction at once.  I think I took a few skyline shots at that time, but I found a skyline photo taken by Jack White at the UTA Library site that shows all four buildings under construction.  The Wells Fargo Tower had several panes of glass missing, the D.R. Horton Tower had not reached full height, the penthouse of 777 Main was being formed, and Burnett Plaza was just barely coming out of the ground, but one crane is visible in the photo.  Here's the link:

Maybe three?  Trinity Terrace's third tower; Frost Tower; Omni hotel expansion?

I think Austin actually meant the future four tallest buildings in the city under construction at once, not four buildings under construction at once. 

 

I also think that we will have three going up at one time, but they will be the River Tower, Frost Tower, and the XTO/XOM Parking Garage.  The Frost Tower is supposed to be the city's seventh tallest building, but I don't think the official height in feet has been released. I also don't think there is an official height given for the parking garage.  The River Tower's official height is listed as 23 stories and 267 feet.

The XTO garage? I don't consider an eight-story garage to be a tower.

You are right the XTO Garage is not a tower, I was making a reference to number of buildings in downtown under construction at once, not towers. 

 

Personally, I doubt that I will ever see the four future tallest buildings in the city under construction at once again.  However, it does look as if we may have three or four buildings under construction in downtown in the near future.  In that earlier thread, I did say "buildings under construction at once".

So this got me curious if this has ever happened before. 

 

In around 1920 and 21 it's likely that 3 of the tallest were under construction at once with 714 Main, W.T. Waggoner, and Hotel Texas. Neil P. was also around this time but was shorter than 1914's Burk Burnett. (Though this is only if you don't consider the courthouse as a "skyscraper", as Burk Burnett is actually shorter)

 

Around 1929 the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th tallest buildings at the time were likely under construction at about the same time with the Blackstone, Commerce, Electric, and SInclair buildings all being completed in 29 or 30. T&P Terminal was completed in 1931 and may have been part of that as well. The Aviation building was also built at this time. The earlier mentioned 714 Was the tallest at this time. 

 

When the Landmark building was completed in 1957, 500 W 7th was 4 years behind, I doubt there was any overlap in construction but we did see a 1st and 3rd tallest built within a 4 year time span. 

 

The Tower was completed in 1974, and at the time the 9th and 10th Tandy Center towers were finished in 76 and 78, so there was possibly some overlap there. 

 

 

It seems if you are a fan of Fort Worth skyscrapers, the time to be alive was 1921, 1929, and 1983.

714 Main-36

Burnett Plaza-33 and counting

It looks like Burnett will soon be the king.
