This may have already been discussed, but whats the deal with the tunnel from Vickery to Jennings? It looks like it has a fairly new layer of asphalt on it but its closed.
Will it ever be open?

I like it closed... it's a great shortcut on the bicycle (as long as you have glass-resistant tires and a resistance to the scent of urine)

I remember that tunnel, by far the most interesting of the tunnels (Main, Henderson, Jennings) that went under the T&P station/tracks.

Looks like there's a bunch of work going on inside the tunnel and on top of the Vickery left turn entrance. Jennings still has a lane open going North and South, the Vickery left turn tunnel has been closed for a few days. I wonder if they are going to restore the deteriorating concrete guards at the entrance tunnel? There is some sort of hoist truck alongside it.
I might be just some long overdue maintenance and cleaning. Last time I walked through there it was fairly nasty.

Work is progressing. The guards were redone, but the detailing is a little bit different than I can remember. One of the photos shows a portion of the old guard after it was cut and moved to the side. I'm glad they kept the arches.
From July 26th
From August 25th.
No fluting on the inside face of the guard post.
Still need to remove the formwork for the arches.
