I frequently enjoy reading the Angels Fan Blog ---- the Angels play in Orange County, their fan hate LA Dodgers and many think of Los Angeles as a pit.

 

Yes, I would imagine fans of any given team don't like rival teams. In this case, Angels fans don't like Dodger fans.

 

That said, I don't follow baseball, so I may be wrong. Do fans of one team ever cheer for another?

I firmly believe it's way too early to think about parades or parade planning.

You're right and I agree, I really meant this to be a hypothetical question.  I know the cowboys played in Irving all those years but their super bowl parades were always in downtown Dallas.  Would it be true if they won the super bowl playing all their games in Jerrys World though Arlinton footed part of the bill on the $1.2 billion stadiam.  I guess they would still have a parade in downtown Dallas because of there name being the "Dallas Cowboys" seems like a little slap in the face to Arlington if that happened.  I Just wanted to get you guys thoughts.  These parades can get pretty expensive with the road blockage, the police man power it would require, and normally about 1 million people attend these parades,  you guys know more about Arlington than I do, do you think they could support such an event? I've attended the cowboys, mavs, and stars championship parades and they were massive.  I could be wrong but I've never seen a professional sports team in any league have their championship parade in a suburb, but maybe Arlington is different.  Hypothetically if Arlington was to host the parade for the Rangers (hypothetically) what part of Arlington do you think they could pull this off?  And does Arlington have a large enough police force to police something like this?  It would be cool if they could.

I could be wrong but it seems that a couple of years ago when the Abram Street rebuild was being batted around one of the arguments for widening it was to accommodate parades... but I am pretty sure they were talking about the annual Independence Day parade. Thinking about what Dallastar wrote it might be best to to ask the City of Arlington if they WANT the parade first, before making any plans. My guess is that expenses be damned they would enthusiastically go for it, something along the lines of, "The taxpayers paid for it, and by golly they are going to have it".

 

After the traffic hassles in downtown Dallas this week due to the mini-series filming (they have had a film commission for a while, you know...) they may not be totally ready for a big parade... on the other hand Dallas seems to like doing things in a big way, so why not? Fort Worth would have a chance at hosting the parade if they could get ESPN to spring for it...

 If Arlington could pull off not one but to stadiums, wouldn't one think that it could pull off a parade?  These kinds of parades are peaceful; they are not a riot.

 

If the Cowboys ever win another championship, Jerry Jones will have the celebration at AT&T Stadium so that he can sell parking, concessions, souvenirs and TV rights...$$$$$..Jerry Jones Inc. never misses an opportunity to make a dollar. 

 

The Rangers will likely hold their celebration at Globe Life Park, again for the same reasons.

 

Anaheim, CA (Ducks, Angels)and Green Bay, WI (Packers)  comes immediately to mind about places 500,000kor smaller who have host championship celebrations.

Thing about that is, Green Bay doesn't have to fight with another large city and a large "city-burb" for those events.

I'm absolutely in favor of a multi-use Baseball stadium in Dallas adjacent/attached to the convention center but not for the Ranger, only for a new or relocated MLB team.  If somehow the stars aligned for the Rangers to play in downtown Fort Worth, I would go for that, otherwise, I wouldn't want the Rangers to leave Arlington.

I know Cowboys stadium is huge, but I don't think it could hold 1,000,000 million, neither does Globe life Park, if both these teams are regional teams why cut the celebration to so few I believe thats why they have parades so that more people from the area can take part in the celebration for their team, and I guess I wonder why didn't Jerry Jones do host celebrations with the 3 super bowls he has won already won.  When I attended the Mavericks Parade I met people who came from Louisiana, Ok, Arkansas, Kansas, and Mo.  Parades allows you to spread your teams brand IMO. Now if you are in a small market, I can under stand host celebrations, have you ever been to one of these parades?  They are very exciting!

It would be so sad that if (and when) the Rangers win a World series, with all the fans they have in this area that it is only limited to 40,000 or 50,000 fans.  These parades are Big Time and a Big Deal.

When the Ducks won the cup they basically had a parade around the Honda Center Parking lot. Though, not sure than Hockey in Anahiem would have drawn a million person crowd.

You know....that sounds pretty cool, I remember when the Stars won the Cup, their parade wasn't as big either I don't know the total count I think it was somewhere between 250,000 to 500,000, but one thing in specific I remember about their parade was the amount of diversity amongst the fans, there were African Americans, Hispanic, Asians, Indians and of course cucasions. And  (being AA myself) I didn't know much about the game but was just happy they won and there was a lot of us that was like that, and I remember Darren Hatcher blasting us with some kind of sopy solution and it was a fun as hell.
