OK... I have heard a few tenants announced. However, with all the development I thought we would here more by now. What's the deal?

Couldn't this go in one of the development topics already going?

It's all rather cloak-and-dagger, since many of them are competing for the same tenants.

i think the concensus is that there are a number of tenants circling around the area, using the developers against one another for pricing leverage. my prediction is that the bulk of announcements will come shortly after the icsc conference in vegas in mid-may (so late may, early june - hold me to it). with most of these developments well underway by then, tenants should start committing if they're serious about opening a location on w 7th.

Update in the FW Business Press (although I think AG has scooped all these):

I guess the Starwood hotel going in W. 7th explains why the Aloft isn't showing up as part of Museum Place.

When I attended the January Meeting of AIA Fort Worth, the developers of Museum Place spoke as a part of the program, and I thought it was apparent that the Aloft was already a signed tenant of Museum Place.

Starwood has a new concept called Element an off-shoot of Westin vs Aloft a smaller W. Element is more extended stay but still trendy, while Aloft is more W. Starwood is rapidly expanding and I would almost venture we might see both, maybe Aloft at Mueseum Place and Element at W7th.

I hear the much coveted Apple store choose University Village (former Gap Location).

They are building an ALoft and Element hotel in the same development a few miles from me in Johnson Co, KS (suburban Kansas City). I first thought it was unusual for Starwood to build two next to each other.

i think there is a market for both in the CD. Think of all of the people that come to FW for horse/stock shows that are here for a week or more. An upscale extended-stay hotel would be ideal for them. The marriott behind So7 is nice, but it is consistently full. The museums also often have people coming in that stay for a week or two at a time setting up exhibitions. Something like an aloft will be wonderful for cultural tourism. FW gets quite a lot of out of state and drive-in visitors just to see the museums. A nice hotel right across the street might entice them to stay an extra night or two and spend more money in the city.

i ate at the iron cactus while in austin for a meeting and was really impressed. The food was pretty delicious and they had a creative drink menu. Should be a great happy hour place as well as a nice dinner option.

looks like the Apple store will not be in the cultural district. (which is unfortunate for me) but fear not, it is headed to Fort Worth Proper at University Village.

From what I understand it is going in the space vacated this month by the Gap. Hmmmm... makes me wonder if gap will surface in Museum Place??

By the way, don't you think Robert the author and Theresa of "Theresa's Treasures" would make a nice couple...?

I don't necessarily think that the Apple store going into UP Village precludes it going into Museum Place. There's great precedent for Apple opening stores very close to one another as long as the traffic warrants it. The issue is what happens to University Camera, which has some sort of Authorized Apple Dealership thing going. Which makes me wonder if maybe University Camera is going into Museum Place. Doesn't seem the national tenant, but then again Cooder's Village in Dallas has been in HP Village for sixty years and moves a lot of product. I don't think the Gap, for what its worth, is pursuing opening many stores right now.

At least the Star-Telegram credited us for the story we broke four days ago this time. That's more than they've done the last four times they've followed us to a story. smile.gif
