Does anyone know where I can find the dates of old city parks opening prior to 1950 I sent an email to the parks dept and I got the run around.
They replied saying I needed to submit a lengthy form by mail in detail stating why I want this info.so the request could be directed to the proper dept. Very sad way of serving the public, especially in this computer age. Again if anyone can help me I would be so grateful. I'm only interested in parks that opened prior to 1950 and earlier???
Thanks...Herb
This is me in 1947 in Brockton, Mass.

Try something like the following:

I am submitting this written request for public information. I want to a list of the names of the old city parks and the dates they opened.
Please provide this information by email to the following address, or by fax to the following fax number, or to the following regular mailing address.
I understand that under the Public Information Act, I can expect you to send your response within 10 business days.

I work in Open Records for the state. If it weren't so late, I would quote you chapter and verse about how government agencies are required
to provide information unless it is restricted as privileged and confidential. I personally can't see why the names and Park Names and establishment dates
would be privileged information.

P.S. There is no established form. It just has to be in writing to be aN OPEN RECORDS request. It could be on a piece of scrap paper (although those are easy to lose) It doesn't have to be formal or on any form. It just has to be written. For more information, check with the Texas Office of the Attorney General website.

Herb- Your best bet at this point is to buy Susan Kline's History of the Fort Worth Parks, recently published by Arcadia and available at all the local bookstores and the Walgreen's on Henderson Street downtown. Anything you'd get from the Parks and Community Services Dept. will be in the book. It is an excellent history that ought to give you everything you're looking for.
