This morning when I went to observe the implosion of the Medical Tower at Eighth Avenue and Rosedale Street I was worried about the potential for traffic and difficulty finding a parking space in the area due to road closures and onlookers. So I decided to park on a residential street in the Mistletoe Heights neighborhood and I walked to the implosion by walking down Rosedale across the bridge over the railroad tracks. Turned out that there was very little traffic and few onlookers. One the way back Mistletoe Heights I ended up walking down a back street I had never been on before and spotted an interesting old church building which I soon learned is an old black church and the last remnant of an old neighborhood called Trezevant Hill. Here are the photos I took of it - including a photo of the sign that provides a history of the building. The building is not all THAT old - from the mid 1940s. But it has a certain charm to it and a very interesting history. Based on the signs that have been placed on the property it looks like someone is trying to preserve the building. I hope they are successful in doing so.

That church has caught my eye every time I've driven along that stretch of W. Rosedale. I remember how the area nearby was covered in shotgun shacks until 1985 when the medical district rolled over it.

I had never encountered the name "Trezevant Hill" before. I just did a search on it and found this: http://www.rootsweb....s/trezevant.htm

I've ridden my bike by the church but never stopped. I'll have to stop next time I'm in the area.
