I don't want to post a link to or copy material from a group I'm not a part of, but I read today that John went from the hospital to a rehab facility in the last few days. It sounds like he is doing much better.

Any chance you could send me an address? I sent John a card over a week ago, but got it back today with "return to sender" written on it.

The update came from the FWBA Facebook page and they didn't list an address like they did before.

Welcome back, John! Many prayers were offered for your recovery so its encouraging to see how far you've come since your injuries. From my amateur observations, it appears Fort Worth is in the midst of a building boom not seen since before the Great Recession. That this is happening at a time when the Texas state economy is experiencing downward pressures from low energy prices is all the more remarkable. There's even renewed prospects for saving the Garvey House on Samuels Avenue and it becoming fully rehabbed but it depends on how well developers and city officials communicate and agree on the proposed measures as part of a larger project. I sincerely hope this perhaps last chance to save the Garvey House is not forfeited due to bureaucratic issues. Protecting our historic resources is sometimes best accomplished through pragmatism/compromise rather than inflexibility and a strict interpretation of preservation ordinances. Here's wishing you continued recovery until you are back 100% again. This is an exciting time to be in downtown Fort Worth with all the on-going projects and changes underway.

It's hard to believe how much I missed in the last 11 weeks. There has been a lot of construction activity and press releases on projects in that time. I can't drive right now, so it will be a little bit before I see some of this activity. However, I do have outpatient therapy and doctor's appointments, so I'm sure I will pass by some of these projects. I have cycling friends who will be taking me to these places.

About this time of day, exactly one year ago, I had my accident. In celebration, my co-workers took me out to lunch to eat at the Woodshed. If you all are interested, I think I have fully recovered. However, due to the aspiration, I tend to cough a lot more than I did before the accident. I also lose my voice if I talk too much. These are minor inconveniences, and I can certainly live with them. Things may improve over time, and they may improve more if I exercise more. I have been on the bike after the accident, and by the time it was all said and done, I rode a little less than 500 miles last year. That is much less than what I normally ride, which is 3,000 to 6,000 miles per year. Even though I did start riding to conquer some of my fears, my heart is not in it yet, and I haven't been out on the streets. Basically this year, I have driven to the trail and started my ride from a trailhead.

Glad you've had a successful recovery. I wouldn't have ever realized you had been in an accident the last time I saw you if I didn't already know.

Thank you, Doohickie and JBB. I have also been planning to get out more to take pictures and work on the website, but the weather has not been as good as I would like on the weekends.

Bicycling is one of the most invigorating forms of exercise and a prescription for successful recovery of ailments, whether caused by an accident or not. I try a friendly greeting to all I pass (or pass me) on the Trinity Trails. Good health to you, John Roberts!

Thanks, John. It's been a little bit since I have ridden, so now I'm starting to get itchy to go ride. I'm still going to have to wait until the weekend because I don't have tomorrow off.
