Old Stuckey's

The skies were nice with the puffy clouds and azure blue mottled in between. Made for a sharp contrast between it and the derelict building. Also funny how we work so hard to keep our buildings and grounds manicured and civilized, but walk away from them for awhile and mother nature comes roaring back.

I was wanting to get better shots of the old Whataburger on White Settlement near Henderson Downtown a few years ago before it was torn down. Abandoned structures are pretty creepy but an abandoned highway Stuckeys may take the cake.

Excellent Art. I share the love for the abandoned. Really nice shots.

The gas pump canopy and overgrown grounds I did not find all that creepy, but the yawning blackness of the shattered storefront windows and the disheveled, rotting interior of the main structure was a bit unsettling. Would have been creepier if part of it was burned out, which by itself is somewhat surprising that as long as this thing has sat abandoned nobody's tried to torch it, and that it has managed to escape the wrath of wildfires.

I rode past there a few weeks ago. Pecan Logs, Ham sandwich, most had Texaco gas pumps that I recall.

They even have a few franchises in the Metroplex - though none of them are of the old stand alone variety.
