It's replacing the Chili's in the center.  Although not my favorite, I have eaten many meals at that Chili's.

You will love Eatzi's. It is a giant step beyond Chili's.  I have wanted one for Fort Worth for a very long time.

Yes, it's another Dallas chain.  But I think you're going to like it.

Going into the spot where Chili's is currently.  Opening late 2016 or early 2017.

Will Chili's be adding a new restaurant to Fort Worth to take its place?  Is it just FW or is Chili's dying?  They closed Sundance Square (now Jake's), Ridgmar mall closed (as far as I know empty space), Bedford Euless Road in NRH closed (vacant but for lease), University Park Village closing soon to become Eatzi's.  What does that leave in Greater Fort Worth?  Hulen, Arlington, Bedford, Alliance and Keller?  Am I missing any?  (Chili's Too doesn't count IMO).

There's one in Roanoke, North Richland Hills at North Tarrant and Davis, Grapevine at 114 and William D. Tate, and one in Euless at 121 and Glade.

Somewhat related, Bud Kennedy is reporting on Facebook that Blue Mesa is abandoning the UVP location for a location at Montgomery Plaza with a 2nd floor event space. I have to wonder if some of these restaurants are being priced out of that center. The Chili's space was expanded and renovated in recent years, but has definitely seemed less busy in the last year or so during the lunch hour.

My guess is that you are correct about the restaurants being priced out of University Park Village.  As for Chili's crowd diminishing over the last year, maybe the restaurant has "run its course", and the patrons are now choosing other restaurants.

When I was walking around Coconut Grove (urban / touristy neighborhood) in Miami last January, there was a Chili's that had just closed.

There are certainly plenty of new and better options in that area. Chili's is the last of the big 3 bar food restaurant chains that surged in the '80s, TGI Fridays (not dead but pretty close) and Bennigan's (dead again) being the other two. It's not my favorite, but it's a quick and cheap lunch option.

We used to go there after the monthly Fort Worth Bicycling Association meetings.  (1st Monday of the Month)

Well, that is okay with me.  In many cases, Fort Worth has been left out all together when it comes to expansions or new openings that then go to either Plano or Frisco.

Fort Worth is starting to get a first look and serious consideration; and that is the "good news".

In my recent experience, Chili's service has been rather dismal, and the menu all over the map, with no standouts. I'm looking forward to trying Eatzi's.

Here's the tentative schedule for the Eatzi's.  The renovation of the Chili's is supposed to start in October, and the construction finish is scheduled for February 2017.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Bread Winners Bakery & Bistro will be opening in the old Blue Mesa space after they leave.

I noticed this afternoon that the signage and awnings are down on the Chili's space.
