My vote is for Fort Davis, hands down.

From a scenery standpoint, any of the 3 towns in the West Texas triangle of Fort Davis, Alpine, and Marfa are all great, and each for different reasons. Fort Davis for the way it's tucked into the mountain, since it's the highest town in Texas, and very quaint. Alpine for having the best view of surrounding mountains, the college campus on the hill, etc. And Marfa for the sheer sense of openness and the huge sky. I guess I'm just a big fan of the Big Bend, but to me the beauty of these towns is as good as it gets.

Yes, I do like Granbury from the perspective of the courthouse and building arrangement.

I too am quite fond of the Big Bend area. Lajitas and Terllingua are way cool. There's a great golf course there that actually crosses over into Mexico. I also love the city course at Marfa (highest course in Texas). Had to hold up one time on a drive due to antelope in the fairway. Slightly off topic, but the drive along the river to Presidio has to be one of the most breathtakingly beautiful in the country.

Amen to all that. It's cool that the river road and the scenic loop (Ft.Davis) are only 2 hours apart but feel like they're in different states - those would have to be the 2 prettiest drives in Texas. Another great thing out there is weather. The Davis Mountains area of Alpine/Marfa/Ft. Davis is cooler in the summer than anywhere else in the state. I was out there last year in mid August and I didn't see 80 degrees over a 3 day span. And in the winter you can just head down to the Lajitas/Big Bend NP area, and it will be 70-75 degrees on any given afternoon.

Safly, your most beautiful is the same as mine. I love all of the scenery around those small Hill Country towns.
I can't believe that I NEARLY lost my marbles in answering this Q.
I completely forgot about MARBLE FALLS!!!
Now that is another pristine location in the Hill Country BOOM area.

Yea!! I love Marble Falls. Absolutely my favorite area in Texas. I lived there for a year 2004/2005 and wish I was still there.
Gotta love the Bluebonnet Cafe....if you can get in.

We love it when people come to visit our charming area. With our mayor and city council we have now that are very historically minded, Palestine will only get better. Our mayor was the former head of the historical commission and is responsible for the strict historic preservation policies now in place for our historic structures. I used to disagree with her policies but as I see Palestine grow economically and in historic beauty, I think she is okay. As most of my posts suggest, come visit Palestine, the Dogwood City.
