The convention center brings in more money as a convention hall than as an events center.

It should have a bigger ballroom, not an albatross arena.

The "plan" was spelled out in a study about 10 years ago -- a new events arena on Harley, converting the TCCC arena to events space and (someday) adding a small exhibits hall to fill a need in the Stockyards.

None of this is any kind of big scheme.

That would probably be at Hickory Stick. I never knew that's where the sign came from.

When you mentioned Hickory Stick that brought back the memory of an old barbecue restaurant back in the 1950's on Seminary Drive, just west of the old S&H Green Stamp warehouse. It in fact was called the Hickory Stick. A couple of other good old Fort Worth barbecue restaurants were KC's on Berry Street just east of 8th Avenue/McCart and the Big Apple on the northside. I haven't been by the old KC's in several years but last time I was by there the building and sign were still there.

I remember th Big Apple BBQ. In the early 1950's. The owner was a black lady by the name of Mrs. Hester. It was the best tasting BBQ place.

Mrs. Hester was not black. She also had Hesters on the Hill on 28th.

I think this comment refers to Pappy Williams and the Big Apple BBQ on Cliff Street. (don't know his wife's name)
