Formerly:
Allen Ave. Church of Christ
Allen Ave. Baptist Church
This church congregation was first established after World War I by the Baptist Church. It was constructed around 1919, but was remodeled in 1928 by architect H.D. Withers. The design resembles Beautiful Feet Ministries on E. Hattie, which Withers also designed around the same time this church was remodeled. The building is red brick with cast stone Baroque ornamentation. With the widening and connection between Allen and Maddox Avenues, the original entry has been removed and replaced by metal stairs. Allen Ave. Church of Christ occupied the building from 1954 until 1974. After that point in time, the building served as the Masjid Hassan of Al-Islam.
