Meissner Funeral Home
This building was constructed by the Meissner Funeral Home in 1937. In 1974, Joe B. Brown and his family purchased the funeral home and added their name to the business. In 1988, the Brown family relocated the business to the former Owens & Brumley Funeral Home on the city's Near Southside. The building was last owned by a church and was abandoned. The City of Fort Worth eventually took the property for lack of payment of taxes and was going to demolish it. Historic Fort Worth, Inc. put it on their Most Endangered List and the building was purchased by Phoenix Restoration, Inc. They fully restored the Spanish Eclectic styled structure. It is now an event venue.
